IndieCork Special 2024 Showcase






On October 9th, we teamed up with IndieCork Festival for a special collaboration showcase, celebrating the first incredible year of the People’s Picturehouse! Whilst reading a woman suddenly finds herself transported into a dreamlike space in which she revisits a mysterious, yet not unfamiliar building. As she starts to roam around the ghostly place reality and fiction start to blur and she asks herself the question: „How do you tell someone they may be talking to a ghost?" Written, directed and shot mainly in Cork City, "The Yellow Place" revisits Charlotte Perkins Gilman's short story within new places. By exploring locations like the abandoned mental hospital in Cork City and incorporating archival audio, the film aims to capture a woman's journey that transcends time and space.

Unwilling to celebrate another wedding anniversary, abused wife Margo takes out her abuser husband, in a sweet twist of domestic revenge. She dons her apron to bake Peter his favourite cake, a Black Forest Gateau. She could kill him in so many different ways; with a knife, a heavy pot, a flex, but no, Margo does it in signature style, serving him food that he doesn’t appreciate. A lover of day time TV, she has been inspired to embellish her cake with a little poison mixed into the whipped cream, ensuring her spouse dies happy at least.
